Eczema Relief with Tubby Todd

Since Hudson was born, eczema has always been an challenge. He would get flare ups occasionally, in which his pediatrician prescribed different creams, but they never seemed to help.

When the weather started to get cool in late Fall, eczema became a constant in his everyday life. His sweet little cheeks would get so dry and rosey. I became determined to find relief for him. I researched, read reviews, and tried just about everything I could find, without change.

Finally, I stumbled across Tubby Todd. I loved the story behind it, where the creator, in a similar position, tried everything to find relief for her family’s eczema, without success, so she created her own products, that worked. After learning they were made with 100% natural ingredients, I was sold. We added the Hair & Body Wash, Dream Cream, and All Over Ointment to his morning and evening routine and within just a few days, Hudson woke up without any signs of rosiness and the softest skin! It’s been a month and I couldn’t rave about their amazing products enough! Use this link to receive 10% off your first order!

Nail Caviar

Nail Caviar 11

With one of my biggest beauty faux pas being chipped nails, I’ve been hesitant to try the latest 3D nail trend. After spotting a metallic, pearlized version of the nail art at Urban Outfitters, I couldn’t resist.

Nail Caviar

I opted to make a subtle statement sporting the chic beads on a solo finger. The simple two-step process gives an instantly glam look. After adding two swipes of polish, dip nail into the caviar pot and let dry 15-20 minutes. I added a base coat and top coat to the nails I didn’t dip. I’m obsessed with this chic mani.

Julep Maven May [Modern Beauty] Box

I’ve been a Julep Maven subscriber since November, but May’s Gatsby-inspired box has been my favorite. (The Glycolic Scrub and Rock Star Hand Crème in the Power Couple Box are pretty amaze too!–highly recommended) The themed box was sans polish, but I was more than impressed with all of the (toxic-free, always) beauty items included.

I’ve tried other lip scrubs in the past, that usually get messy and have severe clingy properties, but the Sugar Smooch Lip Scrub smells absolutely amazing, and makes my lips so soft and smooth, with easy application. A perfect pre-lipstick ritual.

The fun variety of lip hues in the New York Jazz Lipstick Trio came in two sheer shades (a nude and poppy color), as well as a matte red for a bold statement. The fun sized portions are great for a small clutch or pouch.

It takes a lot for me to fall in love with a mascara. Lash separation, no clumping, and volume are all on the check list, yet this American Beauty Volumizing Mascara goes the distance with lash growth enhancement ingredients. The easy applicator wand even gets into the hard to reach spots to get even the smallest lashes. I’m sold!

Retinol Review

Retinol Review {The Subtle Statement}

I recently swapped my night time moisturizer for an age-fighting retinol. The benefits of retinol creams are endless, including acne fighting properties, and skin plumping actions. I began using Vichy LiftActiv Retinol HA Night, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I use it in combination with my favorite Giorgio Armani ‘Luminessence’ Bright Regenerator Concentrate. I haven’t experienced fine lines yet, but I began using a retinol for it’s many other benefits, and I couldn’t be happier with the glowing properties it’s given my skin. My skin is clearer, softer and my pores appear smaller. While some retinol creams may be harsh, this one leaves my sensitive skin irritation-free.

Rent The Runway Review

You know one of those *omg* moments you have when you spot an insanely fabulous dress that you just have to have?.. Yet you have no idea where you would wear it? I’m still swooning over this gasp-worthy Kate Spade dress. As much as I would love to own one, I feel like if a dress has that big of a wow factor, any repeat offenders are going to come with a big red flag. Sometimes it’s just necessary to wear a statement dress just… once.  Having this mindset, I decided to browse the latest styles on Rent The Runway to look for a dress for my friend’s bridal shower. I’ve always been a bit hesitant to rent a dress from the site, because of the chance of it not fitting correctly.

After finding a fabulous dress to fit the shower theme, I realized that there were numerous reviews by customers with their own photos wearing the dress, dress size, measurements, and a comment stating whether the dress was true to size, ran large or small. The detailed reviews and real-life photos showed similar to how the dress would fit me, and the offer of getting an additional size for free convinced me that it was a fool-proof option.

I spotted a burgundy hued Yigal Azrouel Peplum Dress, and yet even though there was no eye-catching embellishment, the simplicity of the dress made a statement of its own.

As you may know by now, I have a serious weakness for statement necklaces, so naturally I had to rent the one suggested. It couldn’t have been more perfect! From fit, to fabric, to color, everything on the list got a check. I’m really happy with my decision to rent a dress and necklace, instead of buying a something I may never repeat wearing. Now if I could just find an excuse to wear this stunning Reem Acra gown.

Dress: Yigal Azrouel

Shoes: Prada

Necklace: Ciner

Barely There

In need of a makeup refresher, I headed over to the bareMinerals booth at the IFB Conference. After trying out a couple of new products, I was on my way with a gift bag, filled with their newest foundation, precision brush, concealer and concealer brush.

While getting ready for Lucky FABB the next morning, I decided to test out the READY SPF 20 Foundation. To my surprise it was incredibly lightweight, yet had great coverage. Unfortunately I wasn’t matched the correct color, so with the help of bronzer, I was able to achieve the color of my skin tone. I later ordered my correct color from Nordstrom.  Their color palette made it easy to find the true match. Choose a color that appears darker than your skin tone. I was originally matched with Medium Beige, but Medium Tan was my best match.

I love the idea of wearing something lightweight, that doesn’t feel like a mask. The Precision Face angled brush makes it really simple apply the foundation evenly, even around hard to reach spots like around the nose. It looks completely natural, and after a long day at Lucky FABB, no touch-up needed. I’ve been using it ever since!

If you would like to learn more about the foundation, this Thursday, September 27th at 12pm PDT / 3pm EDT Creator of bareMinerals, Leslie Blodgett, and Celebrity Makeup Artist, Fiona Stiles will be LIVE on Facebook at http://www.Facebook.com/bareMinerals. They will show you how to get Red Carpet Ready and introduce the bareMinerals Ready SPF 20 Foundation. Join the conversation at #bareMineralslive. Tune in the first ten minutes of the show for a chance to win an exclusive bareMinerals giveaway.

Impressed

The one thing I can’t leave the house without is manicured nails. The other night, my nail polish had started to chip. The last thing I wanted to do was paint my nails, and I had an appointment the next morning. I remembered I had gotten an imPRESS Press-On Manicure set from the Lucky FABB conference.

When I think about press-on nails, I’m envisioning something plastic, unnaturally long, with a cheesy design. But something told me, it would be worth a try. In less than five minutes I stuck on 10 adhesive nails in a trendy iridescent hue. They didn’t look as bad as I had imagined, but something still wasn’t right. I grabbed a nail file and went to work.

To my surprise, my nails appeared as if I had gotten a fresh manicure.  Throughout the week, I received numerous compliments about my manicure, asking what color I was wearing. (The color is “So, So Stellar“) No one could believe they were actually press-on.

The result. It’s been one week since applying my press-on manicure, and each of the 10 nails are still perfectly intact. I’m really impressed by the entire product. I’m looking forward to checking out other colors. I will update with how long they last.

Kaeng Raeng Review

I concluded the Kaeng Raeng Detox, after completing four days. Today, I woke up and again did not have an appetite, yet had little energy to workout. I instead choose a Whole Berry Blast Pro Bar and a sliced banana with a dollop of Plain Soy Greek Yogurt and a sprinkle of Cinnamon. This breakfast/lunch combo gave me the energy to start my day and have a complete workout. It also kept me full until dinner, in which I stuck to eating healthy with sliced cucumbers and tomatoes with hummus, salad, and a couple of lemon infused vegetarian grape leaves. I drank an abundance of water throughout the day to stay hydrated.

The detox helped me achieve my goal of eliminating sugar cravings and focusing on healthy whole foods. I’m happy with the results of the detox, but the 3 Day detox would have been just right for me. Although it wasn’t difficult sticking to the detox, by day five, my body was telling me I needed energy and whole protein packed foods.

PROS: Eliminated cravings, weight loss, healthy mindset

CONS: Bloating after consuming, timely to consume, repetitive meals, lightheadedness, nausea

Kaeng Raeng [Day Four]

I woke and didn’t have much of an appetite until around noon. I drank my breakfast smoothie then. I had a late lunch juice a few hours later but only wanted something light, so I mixed the packet with liquid and I didn’t add any fruit. For a snack, I ate a raw Goji Granola Bar. Around dinner, I felt a little lightheaded, so I ate banana slices dipped in Plain Soy Greek Yogurt, for added probiotics, and drank half of a portion of my dinner juice. Today I’m craving steamed kale and tempeh, (still no sweets cravings!)

Breakfast: “Into the Blue” (I blended 1 packet + 32oz water + 1/2 banana)

Lunch: “Joyful” (I mixed 1 packet + 24oz water + 8oz organic fresh squeezed OJ)

Snack: Two Moms in the Raw Goji Berry Granola Bar

Dinner: Organic Banana Slices dipped in 2oz Plain Soy Greek Yogurt & half portion of “Daybreak” (I mixed packet + 16oz water + 2oz organic lemonade)
