Weekend in the City

Weekends exploring the city are never anything less than entertaining. I caught up with two of my fave friends in fashion over brunch at Lallisse.

Jamal is definitely on of the most stylish guys I know, his on point style is showcased daily on his blog, it’s pretty amazing.

It’s surprising how soon you can get ready when you hear the words David. Yurman. Sample. Sale. I brought these staple baubles home with me.

So glad I got to catch up with one of my faves, Angela from Hello Perfect.

Caity and I dropped by the Capwell + Co Pop Up Shop for some new Fall statement pieces.

I can’t leave without bringing New York bakery treats home for my friends and family.

NYC Fave Vegan & Gluten Free Spots

One major benefit of traveling to NYC and LA is the abundance of veg and gluten free options and restaurants. I always take advantage of my fave spots and this time added some new ones to the list!

I stopped into Peacefood Cafe one morning for a Pumpkin Spice Latte and delicious GF Pumpkin Loaf. The tofu scramble is yummy, also!

Dinner at Cafe Blossom in the West Village was amazing. We shared a variety of dishes to try a little bit of everything, and it was all delicious! We tasted the Chickpea Fritters, Caesar Salad, Sunflower Burger, Berry BBQ Tempeh, Quinoa Spaghetti (which was tdf!).

I ventured to Pure Food & Wine for a prix fixe brunch, where I ordered the Caesar Salad, Tortilla Wraps and Raw Lemon Bar. The salad was great, and the lemon bar had the perfect subtle taste.

Chloe’s Soft Serve Fruit Co is the ultimate guilt-free treat. The Banana soft serve is so delicious! Topped with fresh fruit, coconut, carob chips and a gluten free waffle, it was perfection. 😉

Fresh & Co was conveniently located across from my hotel. Hot quinoa bowls and create your own salads, make for the perfect quick dinner! I tried the warm Kimchee Quinoa Stir-fry Bowl, it was yummy.

Le Pain Quotidien is one of my favorites! I adore their Quinoa Taboule Salad, but this time I opted for the Turmeric Chai Latte and Kale Caesar Salad. It was a nice change for the new season.

When craving a quick slice, Cafe Viva, offers both vegan and gluten free pizza, although Pala takes the spot as my fave.

For quick lunch takeout that’s totally green and healthy, Green Symphony has an abundance of options. I opted for the kale salad.

While in the West Village, we had dinner at S’Nice. I ordered the quinoa salad, it was full of flavor.

If you crave froyo, Tutti Frutti offers a variety of soy frozen yogurt and fresh fruit and carob toppings and it’s delicious!

A few others that I usually visit while in the city…

Babycakes NYC is the ultimate vegan, gluten free bakery. Everything is scrumptious from their doughnuts, to cupcakes, to cinnamon toasties. My birthday cake is even shipped from there every year.

Terri NYC is great for wraps, salads, fresh juices or a quick snack. Their smoothies are really yummy too, and are open early for breakfast.

Burrito Box is the ultimate Mexican fix. Their vegan options go above and beyond, and never disappoint. Great for delivery or takeout.

Blossom Du Jour is great for a quick lunch and fresh pressed juices on hand.

Two Boots is perfect when craving a big NY slice of pizza, and is conveniently located around the city.

I can’t visit New York, without dropping by my favorite blowout spot. Caity also joined me for her first Drybar experience. Blowouts and a Ryan Gosling movie started off the morning (which was so appropriate, since we would be showered with Eva Mendes’s graceful presence later in the day.)

The day kicked off with an interview with the absolute fabulous Eva Chen. Her down to earth style, and amazing stories about her effortless fashion choices (she paired her mom’s 90s crop top underneath that stunning dress she was wearing), make her up to everything you would imagine an Editor-in-Chief to be.

Erica Domesek, Gabi Gregg and Alisa Gould gave advice on engaging in the blogging world.

Eva Mendes looked unbelievably stunning. With her incredibly down to earth demeanor, when asked about her footwear, she simply took off her shoe began searching for the designer’s name. IMG_5272

She then asked a blogger to borrow her scarf to demonstrate how she styles her signature head wraps.

Styled in her new line for New York & Co, she explained how heavily involved she is in the process. More excitingly she expressed to us her love for the vintage belt she paired for under $3!

Then never less than fab, Bryanboy discussed his insanely unique fashion choices when starting his blog.

Lindsey Calla from Saucy Glossie discussed choosing the right brands and changing up your blogging routine.

Post-wedding glow and all, Kate Bosworth gushed about her wedding day, Oscar de la Renta, and her new collection for TopShop (that she came decked in, looking so effortlessly edgy-chic) She really emphasized her love for fashion as a reflection of one’s inner self, and I couldn’t agree more.

I visited Covet to explore their fun new styling app.

Fashion Bloggers Friday Feature

Fashion Blogger Fridays - Brittany Shick

I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely, Alyssa from EFG PR at Lucky FABB West. I was really excited when she asked to feature me as this week’s Fashion Blogger in their weekly post, “Fashion Bloggers Friday.” Check out the fun interview here!

Drybar

This week has been crazy, yet exciting. I’m happy to catch up and share. This morning, I headed off to the Drybar for a long awaited blowout to start off a busy day.

It’s the ultimate girly-chic sanctuary. The modern aesthetic, bubbly vibe, and constant stream of chick flick favorites are enough to make my day.

Choose your do (I picked the Straight Up), get a quick wash, and simply sit back and relax, stress-free for 35 minutes.. The end result a great hair day (or two.)

Day two of the Lucky FABB Conference included a shopping experience with a Lucky Editor.

The day started off with a blogger brunch at The Crosby Street Hotel. Then we were off to the opening of the first Piperlime store.

The store is set up exactly like the website. Apparel is categorized by Editor’s Picks, making it really convenient to shop your personal style.

How amazing are these?
Trying on the Ash Bowie Wedge Sneakers I’ve had my eye on, and finally purchased.
Next stop, Aritzia. Absolutely fell in love with this store. Great mix of style.

Our last stop was Kate Spade. The detail on this dress is amazing.

A great new friend, Kendall from http://kendalldonaldson.ca/ and I.

(A huge thanks to Kendall for snapping the photos of me!)

Fashion’s Night Out

The fourth annual Fashion’s Night Out was held on Thursday. I ventured into Soho for the event that includes cocktails, free gifts and celeb appearances. Here are some of the highlights.

Is this not the sweetest thing? It looks like a real life print ad.

Champagne at Calypso St. Barts.

Victoria’s Secret held a party at their Soho location with guest Alessandra Ambrosio.

Vince Camuto at his Soho store.

What FNO activities did you attend? Did you score any fab freebies or deals?

IFB Conference

After a fashion packed, busy week, I’m getting ready to leave NYC tomorrow (Friday). What an incredible experience, acquiring so much insight, and meeting so many great people.

On Tuesday, I attended the Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference.

Street Style.

What I Wore
Dress: Vince. Handbag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (similar color here). Shoes: J. Crew. Watch: Michael Kors (similar here). Ring: David Yurman. Nails: CND Shellac in Tropix.

An exciting week to come…

I just got to NYC and have an exciting week planned. Tomorrow, I will be attending the Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference, where the roster includes Iman, Coco Rocha, and Derek Blasberg. I will attending the Lucky Fashion & Beauty Bloggers Conference on Wednesday, where the guest panelist list includes Lauren Conrad and Rachel Zoe (dying) Thursday will be Day Two of the Lucky FABB event starting the day with brunch at the Crosby Street Hotel and a shopping trip in Soho, including the opening on the new Piperlime store! (Very excited!)

Following up Thursday night, is Fashion’s Night Out. There are so many fabulous events going on for FNO this year! Aerin Lauder, Rachel Zoe, Naeem Khan, and Thakoon are just few of the A-listers that will be spotted at Bergdorfs. Kim Kardashian, Jill Zarin and Max, Lubov and Joyce Azria will be at Lord & Taylor. Cyndi Lauper will be performing at Manolo Blahnik. Stop by Michael Kors to see the designer in action as he judges a karaoke contest with celeb guests. Scott Disick will be hosting the ultimate Men’s Lounge at Macy’s, along with guests, Rickie De Sole, and Bethany Frankel. Stop by Missoni to meet Margherita Missoni. Alexa Chung will be DJing at Moschino. For the ultimate style duo, visit the grand opening of the Piperlime store to meet Olivia Palermo and Rachel Zoe! Celebs, champagne, and style, what more could you ask for? If you’re in the city, which events you be attending?

Finishing up the week, I’ll be assisting Personal Style Expert & Founder of CheapChicas.com, Lilliana Vazquez, on a fashion segment for Rachel Ray. I’m looking forward to this fashion packed week, and can’t wait to share!

The chic simplicity of this facade caught my eye from afar.

One of my favorite things to do in the city is explore. There’s nothing like stumbling upon hidden gems.

Loving the chic pops of color and contemporary vibe of the hotel.

A new favorite color combo. Maroon & Pink.

In NY, it’s extremely important to have a comfy shoe. I love the trendy metallic hues for Toms this Fall.
