Fall is my favorite time of the year. The cooler weather, cozy knits, and pumpkin scented everything make the season’s festivities that much better. I love Fall fashion, because it’s the time of the year to be creative with the endless opportunities of layering. I was excited to pull out all of my new fall finds from my recent trip to NYC.
Staples are great investment pieces for your wardrobe, but trendy pieces can be too. If the trend is going to be sticking around for a while, it may be worth the investment. These key trends for Spring/Summer 2013 it will bring you from season to season.

Before I left for NYC I had some of my personal style photos taken. At the time, the weather was scorching. The amazing thing about a leather sheath is the versatility. The dress is great for summer, and layered for Fall and Winter, paired with tights and booties. I went a polished route when I wore the leather sheath to the IFB Conference. A pair of ankle boots transforms the look for a casual, edgy feel.

I was browsing the Target website for a recent post, and came across a super chic sweater. I couldn’t believe how trendy and contemporary the top was, and realized that the Shops at Target had just debuted on Sunday. I immediately checked out the collection and fell in love. The Kirna Zabete at Target collection is right on trend with a dash of leather, lace, and texture. The collection bears incredibly reasonable prices (a leather jacket for $199.. steal!) Each one of the Shops includes great must-have items. I gathered up favorites from each to share.
- Long-Sleeve Leather Jacket
- Long-Sleeve Jacquard Knit Lace Top
- Zip Front Sleeveless Tweed/Faux Leather Dress
- 3/4″ Sleeve Knit Sweater
- Faux Leather Skirt
- Hematite 16″ Chain & Cast Necklace
- Faux Leather Pant
As Fall approaches, it’s great to find pieces that are versatile and can transition into the next season. A peplum tank is a great staple, but a leather version is ultra-trendy. Pencil skirts, and wide-leg and ankle cropped pants are super chic pairings. Throw on a fitted jacket or top over a long sleeve button-front top when the seasons start to change. Fall’s prints and patterns look fabulous with the trend. 1/2/3/4
I’m ecstatic for the upcoming Fall trends. The invasion of leather, isn’t going to be taken lightly, along with fur and sleek metallics. Embellishment is on the rise, splattering everything from pants to pumps. Bordeaux drenches everything from shoes, to skirts, to leather jackets. This Summer has been in print overload, but there’s much more in store; think brocades and damasks, psychedelic flair and a trip into the wild. Menswear inspired designs escalate, and art deco minimalism is subtly chic. Let’s break it down by starting with color.
Tagged the color of the season, bordeaux looks super sleek donned in red hot leather and printed patterns. Accessories in the color palette are an instant style update. Boots, handbags, and gloves are risk-free options that are right on trend.
Bold blues serve as chic LBDs, and updated outerwear. Retire your usual black handbag, for a bold statement against any hue. Black and blue are this season’s power couple.
The “no white after Labor Day” rule is long gone. This season is all about chic separates and structured LWDs. Don’t be afraid to don handbags and pumps in the neutral shade.
When in doubt this Fall.. think pink. Find the shade that best suits you, from cotton candy to Schiaparelli pink.
