How to Host an Oscar Party

Add Sparkle #Oscar #Party

An Oscar Party isn’t complete without a little glitz and glam. Add bits of sparkle throughout the decor.

Popcorn Bar

I adore the idea of a “PJs & Pearls” themed Oscar party, featured on LaurenConrad.com. Dress up your fave movie snacks in a chic setup, like a stylish popcorn bar.

Star Studded Desserts

No need to break the bank for a lavish dessert table. Get creative. My favorite thing about baking is the endless creativity.

Get Tagged #Oscar #Party

Everyone deserves to feel like a star for a night. Whether it’s Jessica Chastain or a Best Dressed nom, it’s your night to shine.

DIY Backdrop #Oscar #Party

Get your DIY on by creating a simple (but impressive) backdrop for all of your “Red Carpet” snapshots.

Rock The Vote #Oscar #party

Have fun voting for your top predictions. Whoever is dead-on wins a fabulous prize.

Dress the Part #Oscar #party

Who doesn’t love an excuse to get go glam? Go black-tie or wear your PJs while sporting old Hollywood waves and statement jewelry.

This week has been filled with style, beauty and amazing new friends! Day 1 of the Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference included panels of some of the industry’s most influential. I had so much fun getting my DIY on, sampling Spring beauty, discovering a new obsession (fashionable headphones..crazy chic!) and checking out fab jewelry.

Friday Finds

20130201-010230.jpg

  1. Zoya Nail Polish in Tobey. Lately I have been all about pops of Barbie pink. This non-toxic color is a new obsession.
  2. butter LONDON in Fiver & Fruit Machine. Remember mood rings? My nail polish mood changes season to season. In the Summer, I want candy pops of color, during the Winter I crave deep, dark hues, and in the Spring I soft pastels are my signature. I adore the 3-Free brands new Spring hues. Pastel shades easily compliment a mani-pedi, I love the punchy lilac hue for my toes & icy mint on my hands.
  3. JewelMint Flores Collar Necklace. This pop of neon is the perfect edgy piece to pull any Spring look together.
  4. The Middle Part. I decided to change it up at a trip to the salon yesterday, and opted for a middle part for the first time since junior high. I’m loving these fab middle parts as well. [1, 2, 3]

Hot Pink Pout

  1. Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipcolor in Fuschia Flash
  2. Mac Satin Lipstick in Pink Nouveau
  3. Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipcolor in Pink Pop
  4. Sephora Rouge Shine in No. 18 Just Dating

I am all about a pink pout this season! The closer to a Barbie hue the better. These are some of my favorites that I have been interchanging lately. I’ve been sporting Sephora Rouge Shine in Just Dating quite frequently. The pop of color applies glossy for the ultimate pink lip. For a toned down version of the trend, Mac Satin Lipstick in Pink Nouveau is a great choice. To go all out color Maybelline’s Color Sensational Vivids Lipcolor speak for themselves. Pink Pop is a replica color of my childhood Barbie Jeep and Fuschia Flash is girlie glam. Pink lips are a fun way to update your look, and a trend that can easily be sported day to night.

Prabal Gurung for Target

Prabal Gurung for Target

On February 10th, the most exciting collab to hit to Target, thus far, will be available online and in stores. I can’t express my anticipation for this designer collection. The  tropical prints, bold hues, and perfectly tailored silhouettes are totally swoon-worthy. I plan on stocking up on these sleek ankle strap sandals in multiple shades (hello, Summer!)  Cutout sandals are right on trend this Spring, I can’t get enough of the chic footwear. The fit and flare frocks are oh-so-fab! The collection’s inspiration has me dreaming of sun and sand..

Golden Globes Style

This award show style has, by far, been my favorite. The red carpet was the epitome of a breathtaking fairy tale with two major trends being sheer and embellishment. It was like an Elie Saab dream. Lea Michele may have been the only one sporting the designer, but his signature style seemed to be a major inspiration.

Golden Globes Style

Kerry Washington’s style is one I’ve been stalking. She’s definitely been added to the one to watch list, how incredible was her dress!

Golden Globes Nicole Richie

Photo: CBS

I’m always a fan of Nicole Richie’s glam red carpet style, and she nailed both beauty and style with this look. Matching your lids to your ensemble is usually a don’t, but Nicole definitely made it a “do.” The blue hues were a hit.

Golden Globes Jessica Alba

Photo: PopSugar

Jessica Alba’s coral hues were a fab choice for her golden skin tone and hair color. Her coral pout is a top beauty Spring trend.

Golden Globes Alexander McQueen

Photos: CBS & PopSugar

Dressed in Alexander McQueen, Nicole Kidman and Kate Hudson looked phenomenal in black with gold accents. Plunging necklines and cutouts were major red carpet trends.

Nail Trend {Chunky Glitter}

I’m loving the glitter nail trend, and this Spring texture is key. Chunky glitter is amplified (think back to your Caboodle days) and I’m obsessing over the textured sparkle.

While textured nails like the caviar or sequin manicure are a hot trend, the eye-catching sparkle of this Urban Outfitters polish (spicy) is long-lasting.
