You know one of those *omg* moments you have when you spot an insanely fabulous dress that you just have to have?.. Yet you have no idea where you would wear it? I’m still swooning over this gasp-worthy Kate Spade dress. As much as I would love to own one, I feel like if a dress has that big of a wow factor, any repeat offenders are going to come with a big red flag. Sometimes it’s just necessary to wear a statement dress just… once. Having this mindset, I decided to browse the latest styles on Rent The Runway to look for a dress for my friend’s bridal shower. I’ve always been a bit hesitant to rent a dress from the site, because of the chance of it not fitting correctly.
After finding a fabulous dress to fit the shower theme, I realized that there were numerous reviews by customers with their own photos wearing the dress, dress size, measurements, and a comment stating whether the dress was true to size, ran large or small. The detailed reviews and real-life photos showed similar to how the dress would fit me, and the offer of getting an additional size for free convinced me that it was a fool-proof option.
I spotted a burgundy hued Yigal Azrouel Peplum Dress, and yet even though there was no eye-catching embellishment, the simplicity of the dress made a statement of its own.
As you may know by now, I have a serious weakness for statement necklaces, so naturally I had to rent the one suggested. It couldn’t have been more perfect! From fit, to fabric, to color, everything on the list got a check. I’m really happy with my decision to rent a dress and necklace, instead of buying a something I may never repeat wearing. Now if I could just find an excuse to wear this stunning Reem Acra gown.
