Tips for Traveling with a  Newborn & Toddler

What we learned traveling as a family of four, with a newborn & a toddler, for the first time…

I was curious about what we should/shouldn’t bring to make things more convenient prior to our trip, so I wanted to share what worked for us!

1) We say this every time we travel, but we couldn’t have meant it more this time. Getting TSA Pre✅ is the best decision we’ve ever made a couple years ago. Not only does it make traveling extremely convenient whether you have kids or not, you don’t have to take off your shoes, you don’t have to take out your laptop, and you don’t have to take out any liquids. Without TSA Pre✅, you aren’t allowed to take a baby through security wearing them in a carrier (from what I’ve read, and people I’ve talked to), and they go through and scan each of your bottles. With TSA Pre✅, I didn’t have to take the baby out of the carrier I was wearing and they didn’t touch our bottles. We got through security in under a minute.

2) Wearing a baby carrier through the airport (these are two great options here and here) couldn’t have made things easier to have free hands to hold Hunter’s hand and roll a carry on or hold the diaper bag

3) Bringing the boppy in our carry on, and using it on the plane (along with a baby blanket.) This was so convenient, not only did I feed Hudson at take off and landing on it, it helped him stay asleep comfortably (for both of us) the entire plane ride. I also used it to change him on, opting out of the tiny plane bathroom. The slipcover is washable so you aren’t bringing all the plane germs home

4) Feeding the baby or letting him/her suck on a binky during take off and landing to ease ear pressure. While doing this, Hudson didn’t seem to mind the pressure.

5) If traveling with formula, the most convenient way to have the bottles pre-measured without having to refrigerate them or bring any liquid, we filled the powder into these and then just bought bottled water once we got through security (we got lucky and found non-refrigerated) and poured them in the bottles and mixed them as needed on the plane (I use these any time I leave the house!)

6) Packing healthy snacks and an iPad with headphones with Netflix or Hulu on it for a toddler to watch movies or their favorite show. Hunter has a bookbag his size so he was excited to pack it with his favorite things and wear it through the airport

7) Always Always Always pack extra clothes for all kids, in case they get sick. An extra outfit, underwear, socks, shoes everything (you never know) we lucked out having extra clothes and shoes in our carry on after an unfortunate incident

8) Purchasing a bag to put the car seat and base in before you check it. This one worked great

9) We purchased bulkhead seats, because they are the “Even More Space” seats on JetBlue, which made it nice to have the extra room to change the baby and not feel so confined

10) Soak it all in and take endless amounts of pictures to savor all of the memories

Weekend in the City

Weekends exploring the city are never anything less than entertaining. I caught up with two of my fave friends in fashion over brunch at Lallisse.

Jamal is definitely on of the most stylish guys I know, his on point style is showcased daily on his blog, it’s pretty amazing.

It’s surprising how soon you can get ready when you hear the words David. Yurman. Sample. Sale. I brought these staple baubles home with me.

So glad I got to catch up with one of my faves, Angela from Hello Perfect.

Caity and I dropped by the Capwell + Co Pop Up Shop for some new Fall statement pieces.

I can’t leave without bringing New York bakery treats home for my friends and family.

Lucky Fabb Day 1

Jacket: Michael Kors | Top: Astr | Skirt: Parker | Boots: Rag & Bone | Bag: Chanel

I can’t visit New York, without dropping by my favorite blowout spot. Caity also joined me for her first Drybar experience. Blowouts and a Ryan Gosling movie started off the morning (which was so appropriate, since we would be showered with Eva Mendes’s graceful presence later in the day.)

The day kicked off with an interview with the absolute fabulous Eva Chen. Her down to earth style, and amazing stories about her effortless fashion choices (she paired her mom’s 90s crop top underneath that stunning dress she was wearing), make her up to everything you would imagine an Editor-in-Chief to be.

Erica Domesek, Gabi Gregg and Alisa Gould gave advice on engaging in the blogging world.

Eva Mendes looked unbelievably stunning. With her incredibly down to earth demeanor, when asked about her footwear, she simply took off her shoe began searching for the designer’s name. IMG_5272

She then asked a blogger to borrow her scarf to demonstrate how she styles her signature head wraps.

Styled in her new line for New York & Co, she explained how heavily involved she is in the process. More excitingly she expressed to us her love for the vintage belt she paired for under $3!

Then never less than fab, Bryanboy discussed his insanely unique fashion choices when starting his blog.

Lindsey Calla from Saucy Glossie discussed choosing the right brands and changing up your blogging routine.

Post-wedding glow and all, Kate Bosworth gushed about her wedding day, Oscar de la Renta, and her new collection for TopShop (that she came decked in, looking so effortlessly edgy-chic) She really emphasized her love for fashion as a reflection of one’s inner self, and I couldn’t agree more.

Empire State of Mind

My 7am arrival, left me with an entire day to get lost in the city. There’s an energy in New York City like no other, and I love getting wrapped up in it. The glitter drenched sneaks I bought at Kate Spade this week not only came through with receiving endless compliments, but after about 5 miles of exploring on day 1, my feet were in tip top shape, sans blisters! That is unheard of for roaming the New York streets. I highly recommend them if you’re looking for a fabulous statement shoe, that exudes comfort! I ventured over to Le Pain Quotidien for a tumeric chai latte, followed by a stroll through Central Park, because there’s nothing quite like it during the Fall months.

After coming across the Jin Soon Spa in numerous glossy reads as being a top nail salon, known for their nail art, I’ve been itching to go (their instagram feed serves for amazing nail inspiration) Upon arrival, I asked for a gold leaf design, tucked in between layers of CND gel manicure. Bimala intricately placed each piece one by one, and I left with the most fabulous manicure I ever did see.

While in the West Village, I spotted David’s Tea, another spot I’ve been dying to try, because tea obsessed would be an understatement. Overwhelmed upon arrival, (and being the incredibly indecisive person that I am) I didn’t know where to begin, as I smelled and learned about the most popular bunch, my eyes came across the name “Glitter and Gold.” As the employee opened up the canister, I set eyes on the chicest tea I had ever seen, as gold glitter and pearls shimmer throughout the loose tea.  If I could invent a tea, this would surely be my signature. I left with a supply to go, along with the All About Nuts tea, because it literally smelled like a walk in Central Park.

After my glittery tea, a fabulous gold leaf manicure and my sparkly sneaks winning the award for an orthopedic equivalent of comfort, I pretty ecstatic. The little things in life.

I went back to the hotel, got ready and headed out to fabulous pre-fabb events. At the trendy Refinery Hotel, I caught up with Taylor, Shelby, Jackie and Katie over cocktails and the latest crimson lip hues Jane Iredale has to offer. Afterwards we headed over to the Reiki Salon for a Paul Mitchell styling of loose curls.

Packing Guide: NYC

NYC is on the agenda for tomorrow, and to save space in my suitcase, I’ve packed staples versatile enough to pair with everything I’m bringing. Each piece has the ability to easily bring any item from day to night.

Lipstick. A switch from my fave pink hue, this bold beauty is a game changer with just one swipe.

Earrings. A colorful statement earring will give a pop to a basic tee or cocktail dress.

Ankle Boots. Being my signature Fall staple, I finally got this functional Rag & Bone boot that I plan to pair with dresses, skirts, and boyfriend jeans.

Leather Jacket. The ultimate piece for adding edginess to a fit & flare or bringing a casual look into night.

Sweater. This cozy knit will be dually paired with a flirty a-line for night, and tapered printed pants for Sunday brunch.

Pumps. This basic pump will glam up boyfriend jeans, as well as those tapered printed pants.

Wallet on a Chain. Always on the go in NYC, this small bag will easily organize cash, cards, lipstick, and my phone, without any added bulk.

Denim. A hybrid like these is perfect for sporting my signature skinnies, or rolled and paired with pumps, ankle boots, or sneakers (queen of versatility)

Sneakers. It was love at first sight with this statement sneaks, and I’ve been sporting them ever since. They’re super comfy which makes them a perfect choice when my feet are feeling less than up to par.

Feeling a bit Holly Golightly with this fancy breakfast in bed. (sans the diamonds.)

 Happy Summer Solstice!

I feel like I run through a consistent cycle of packing and unpacking.

An afternoon pick me up, fresh green juice. {spinach, cucumber, beets, apple, lemon, carrots}

I have an obsession with delicate midi rings of all colors and shapes. Btw how fab is this nail color?

Fresh summer veggies. I think my favorite food is grilled vegetables, I love Summer dishes!

Summer  arm candy is an essential.

I made an Ulta Beauty haul, and scooped up some great Summer goodies that I can’t wait to review and share!

Take pictures, Leave footprints

I spent the past week in the gorgeous Caribbean islands of Turks and Caicos.  I have never been to a place more beautiful. It’s clear turquoise water and white sand make it a true paradise.

My family went as well as my best friend and hers, making such a fun time.

We had a girls day at one of the most serene spas.

Practically a tropical paradise in a glass, bananas, fresh pineapple, ice, water & coconut rum was my choice cocktail of the week.

We took a boat trip and went snorkeling for the day, and then had a bbq on the beach. We snorkeled over a shipwreck, which was really cool. Growing up with The Little Mermaid being my favorite movie, made it all the more exciting.

Every night the sunset over the ocean was incredible. It was definitely the prettiest place I’ve been to.
