This year is flying by so quickly. I can’t believe it is already the beginning of March. I’m ready for change, warm weather and all the bright refreshing aspects of Spring.Butter London

Butter London has become one of my favorite brands for their 3-free polishes, long-lasting wear and fab color selection. I’m stocking up on Spring favorites.. bright pinks, pale pastels and bold whites.

Little updates are a nice change. This is the start of a gallery wall above my bath tub. I love mixing frames, sizes and textures. {DIY here}

Organization keeps my mind at ease. My obsession for with a pink pout is kept under wraps with this lipstick/gloss organizer.

Juice Cleanse

Once a month, I like to do a green juice detox to stay healthy and be refreshed. Pressed Juicery has the best juices and homemade nut milks, making it something to look forward to.

IMG_4488An abundance of whole foods recipes that I cannot wait to try. [1|2]

Neapolitan Rose Cake

I love baking, but I love baking for birthdays even more. I have always loved rose decorated cakes, and decided to try a neapolitan version that I saw on I Am Baker.

Neapolitan Rose Cake

Visit I Am Baker for her talented techniques. (A first timer still ranks me amateur status.) I’m hoping to improve, since I plan on making this my Spring celebration staple.. (thinking yellow, pink & purple possibilities!)

Neapolitan Rose Cake Neapolitan Rose Cake The homemade layers consists of chocolate with chocolate buttercream icing, strawberry with strawberry buttercream icing, and vanilla with buttercream icing.

The polka dot find from the J.Crew event I hosted has become a serious asset to my wardrobe. From a chilly night in Pennsylvania last week, to a sunny day in Florida this week (yes, you CAN wear white denim/dresses/etc. year round!), this printed top screams multifunction. Eager to share with you, I searched the dotted popover but found that it had been sold out online. Luckily, I found similar finds that are seasonless must-haves, too!

**Update, the J.Crew Polka Dot Peplum is back in stock! Swoop it up while you can.

Fall Trend Report – Color

2012, blue, blush, bordeaux, cobalt, color, fall, leather, pink, trend, trend report, white

I’m ecstatic for the upcoming Fall trends. The invasion of leather, isn’t going to be taken lightly, along with fur and sleek metallics. Embellishment is on the rise, splattering everything from pants to pumps. Bordeaux drenches everything from shoes, to skirts, to leather jackets. This Summer has been in print overload, but there’s much more in store; think brocades and damasks, psychedelic flair and a trip into the wild. Menswear inspired designs escalate, and art deco minimalism is subtly chic. Let’s break it down by starting with color.

Tagged the color of the season, bordeaux looks super sleek donned in red hot leather and printed patterns. Accessories in the color palette are an instant style update. Boots, handbags, and gloves are risk-free options that are right on trend.

Bold blues serve as chic LBDs, and updated outerwear. Retire your usual black handbag, for a bold statement against any hue. Black and blue are this season’s power couple.

The “no white after Labor Day” rule is long gone. This season is all about chic separates and structured LWDs. Don’t be afraid to don handbags and pumps in the neutral shade.

When in doubt this Fall.. think pink. Find the shade that best suits you, from cotton candy to Schiaparelli pink.

DIY: Candy Buffet

05 Thursday Jul 2012

The latest in party couture is upgrading your traditional dessert table to a sweet-tooth indulged dream. Candy buffets are a conversation piece for any party, where you can let your creativity run free. I recently styled a “Sweet Treat” themed graduation party, from the candy buffet to the centerpieces. These tips are great for creating a fabulous candy buffet to suit any party or event.

20120705-103516.jpg

Keep a consistent color theme. Decide on the theme colors for your party and stay within those colors for a cohesive aesthetic. Here, the theme colors were red, white and black, and we chose silver for an accent color.

20120705-103630.jpgChoose a main focus for your table. The two-tired cake stands with marshmallow pops is the center focus for this table. You can choose to mirror your table for a cohesive look (like this one), or if you are working with only a few items, you can create an abstract display. Create a diagram beforehand deciding where each jar and cake stand will go and which items will go in them, so you aren’t short jars or stands.

Create a banner or confetti garland in the coordinating colors of your theme for added decor. There are endless opportunities for backdrops that can be created on the wall behind the table, if the venue permits it.

20120705-103705.jpgCreate different levels of height. I took two styrofoam boards, hot glued them together, and covered them in the same silk white fabric I used for the tablecloth. I took an additional piece of styrofoam and covered it in a coordinating printed fabric and placed it on top. This gave the back row height. Stacking cake stands is another way to create different levels of height.

Create coordinating tags yourself on your computer to label each item. Choose a font that coordinates with the style of your theme. Choose coordinating ribbons to decorate the jars and cake stands.

20120705-103826.jpg

Get creative! Explore your favorite Pinterest boards and party blogs to find unique treats that you can DIY. Everything here were DIY projects found on Pinterest. Create your own Pinterest board (like the one I did for this party) or mood board for your party to keep your ideas organized. Planning and organization play a large role in the execution of your candy buffet.

20120705-112335.jpgThis graduation was themed, “Sweet Treats,” so we incorporated the candy items into the centerpieces, as well.

Choose candy you will be using to go along with your theme colors. Candy Warehouse conveniently lets you browse candy by color.

Tj Maxx HomeGoods is a great place to find apothecary jars and cake stands of all shapes and sizes, all at very affordable prices!

I’m loving the fact that everyone from Chloé to Louis Vuitton incorporated the white dress shirt, as such a large part of their SS12 shows.  The classic staple is making a statement this Spring, as the core piece to many A-listers ensembles.  From the red carpet to the street, adding this garment to your wardrobe is a must!

(Getty Images) – Topping off the Winter white Oscar trend, Gwyneth Paltrow looked ah-mazing in her form fitting gown and chic floor length cape.  The intricate diamond cuff and ring top off her stunning ensemble.  She never fails to disappoint with her effortless sleek style.

(via Fashionologie) – Elie Saab ranks somewhere in between dreams and fairytales. The perfect combination of glamour and romanticism, Milla Jovovich dazzled in the ornate gown by the designer.

(via Celebrity-Gossip) – Rooney Mara shied away from her usual dark hued choices, and opted for a romantic fluid gown. I love that she let the dress make a statement, without donning jewelry.

(via Mail Online) – Giuliana Rancic truly shined. The ultimate definition of a oscar gown.

(Getty Images) – Octavia Spencer looked absolutely stunning in this beaded fitted gown. She made perfect choices with color, fit, and sparkle. I couldn’t be happier for her emotional win for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for The Help.

Congratulations to Meryl Streep, ecstatic for her 3rd win & 17th nom!
