Add Sparkle #Oscar #Party

An Oscar Party isn’t complete without a little glitz and glam. Add bits of sparkle throughout the decor.

Popcorn Bar

I adore the idea of a “PJs & Pearls” themed Oscar party, featured on LaurenConrad.com. Dress up your fave movie snacks in a chic setup, like a stylish popcorn bar.

Star Studded Desserts

No need to break the bank for a lavish dessert table. Get creative. My favorite thing about baking is the endless creativity.

Get Tagged #Oscar #Party

Everyone deserves to feel like a star for a night. Whether it’s Jessica Chastain or a Best Dressed nom, it’s your night to shine.

DIY Backdrop #Oscar #Party

Get your DIY on by creating a simple (but impressive) backdrop for all of your “Red Carpet” snapshots.

Rock The Vote #Oscar #party

Have fun voting for your top predictions. Whoever is dead-on wins a fabulous prize.

Dress the Part #Oscar #party

Who doesn’t love an excuse to get go glam? Go black-tie or wear your PJs while sporting old Hollywood waves and statement jewelry.

Holiday Eyes

Around the Holidays, I love having fun with my eye makeup and going a bit more glam. These are my favorite holiday hues equipped for any holiday soirée.

Holiday Eyes

Laura Mercier Petite Baked Eye Colour Trio in Golden. I fell in love with this trio online, it’s such a rich palette of deep shimmery hues.

Holiday EyesJane Iredale ‘Simply Magical’ Mystikol™ Eyeliner & PurePressed Eye Shadow Triple in Sundown. The wonderful staff at Jane Iredale sent me this gorgeous pair, and i couldn’t be more excited! This combo makes the prettiest smoky eye. I recently wore it to my friend’s wedding, and received so many compliments. It has a great contrast of colors making it perfectly subtle. The long-lasting wear and silky application made me a huge fan of the line!

Holiday Eyes
Chanel Illusion D’ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Vision. This color is the epitome of holiday glam. Wear it solo or amp up the sparkle to the shadow of your choice.
Holiday Eyes
Lancôme ‘Holiday 2012 Color Collection’ Color Design Shadow & Liner Palette in Sparkling Intoxication. The sparkle in this palette is anything but subtle. The unexpected color combo makes a wicked smoky eye. A pinky hued lip is the perfect pair.
Holiday Eyes Lancôme ‘Color Design’ Shadow & Liner Palette in Taupe Craze. I rarely wear eyeshadow daily, but when I do this palette is my go-to. I love the shimmery taupe colors.

Each palette makes a fab holiday treat for any beauty-obsessed friends or family!

DIY: Candy Buffet

The latest in party couture is upgrading your traditional dessert table to a sweet-tooth indulged dream. Candy buffets are a conversation piece for any party, where you can let your creativity run free. I recently styled a “Sweet Treat” themed graduation party, from the candy buffet to the centerpieces. These tips are great for creating a fabulous candy buffet to suit any party or event.

20120705-103516.jpg

Keep a consistent color theme. Decide on the theme colors for your party and stay within those colors for a cohesive aesthetic. Here, the theme colors were red, white and black, and we chose silver for an accent color.

20120705-103630.jpgChoose a main focus for your table. The two-tired cake stands with marshmallow pops is the center focus for this table. You can choose to mirror your table for a cohesive look (like this one), or if you are working with only a few items, you can create an abstract display. Create a diagram beforehand deciding where each jar and cake stand will go and which items will go in them, so you aren’t short jars or stands.

Create a banner or confetti garland in the coordinating colors of your theme for added decor. There are endless opportunities for backdrops that can be created on the wall behind the table, if the venue permits it.

20120705-103705.jpgCreate different levels of height. I took two styrofoam boards, hot glued them together, and covered them in the same silk white fabric I used for the tablecloth. I took an additional piece of styrofoam and covered it in a coordinating printed fabric and placed it on top. This gave the back row height. Stacking cake stands is another way to create different levels of height.

Create coordinating tags yourself on your computer to label each item. Choose a font that coordinates with the style of your theme. Choose coordinating ribbons to decorate the jars and cake stands.

Get creative! Explore your favorite Pinterest boards and party blogs to find unique treats that you can DIY. Everything here were DIY projects found on Pinterest. Create your own Pinterest board (like the one I did for this party) or mood board for your party to keep your ideas organized. Planning and organization play a large role in the execution of your candy buffet.

20120705-112335.jpgThis graduation was themed, “Sweet Treats,” so we incorporated the candy items into the centerpieces, as well.

Choose candy you will be using to go along with your theme colors. Candy Warehouse conveniently lets you browse candy by color.

Tj Maxx HomeGoods is a great place to find apothecary jars and cake stands of all shapes and sizes, all at very affordable prices!

Valentine’s Day Rice Krispie Treats

A cute Valentine’s Day treat can be created with little time and supplies. I cut out heart shapes out of 4″ doilies.  I punched two holes and thread ribbon, and tied together.  I created a simple label on my computer, then punched it out with a 1″ round punch.  I punched out coordinating cardstock with a 1 3/4″ round punch.  I again punched two holes through the cardstock label, and thread the ribbon through to til together.  Very inexpensive, and can be made in a short amount of time.

I made Nutella S’mores Rice Krispie Treats using this recipe from Sugar Plum.  Very simple and requires no baking!
