A Lacey Day

I love to accumulate “easy-chic” dresses, that exude comfort, and don’t require many accessories. They serve as a major go-to when sunny weather hits–if you’re in a hurry, it can easily be thrown on without much thinking required. Basic hues and styles are essential, but bold color and texture make a great hybrid–going from beach to brunch. Being on the shorter side, this tank dress makes a great pool/beach coverup, pairing well with any hue.

Denim for Days

After a week of sporting Fall scarves and sweaters, it finally feels like Spring! I couldn’t wait to put to use some of my Spring finds. A denim jacket is the ultimate staple, it’s practically the mother to the chambray shirt–just as fabulous, yet it goes with literally everything.. and them some. I have a few denim jackets of medium and dark washes and a variety of lengths, but never really stumbled upon a great light wash. I was so excited when I received this Spring essential from AG Adriano Goldschmied. It was perfect. I apologize in advance for excessive wear.

Superfood Bowl #vegan #glutenfreeThis is my favorite lunch recipe, it’s filled with a variety of color and flavors and packed with amazing beauty foods and nutrients for great hair, skin and fat burning properties. It’s best made in bulk to enjoy throughout the week, since the recipe includes multiple steps.

Statement Necklaces

As you probably know, I have a weakness for a good statement necklace. I’ve been sporting a now sold out Anthropologie piece with practically everything this season. When it comes to chic jewelry, J.Crew always delivers, so naturally the latest statement necklace selection to hit their Factory store sale made me more than a little giddy. These fab finds are a major steal and a great foundation to any summer wardrobe–with an additional 30% off they’re hard to resist! [Use code: SALE30]

Weekend DIY: Floral Cake Topper

I was looking to brighten up the sweet-themed Hummingbird Cake I made for Mother’s Day/Birthday. I searched for supplies on hand and came up with bright hued scrapbooking flowers and always festive striped straws. A day-brightening daisy-themed cake topper was the perfect puzzle piece, complete in under 15 minutes.
Weekend DIY: Floral Cake Topper

Materials:

  • 3 Striped Straws
  • Scrapbooking Flowers
  • Coordinating Brads
  • Baker’s Twine
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Punched Out Cardstock Circles

Weekend DIY: Floral Cake Topper

Place flowers together and secure with coordinating brads.
Weekend DIY: Floral Cake Topper

Tie baker’s twine around one end of a straw and hot glue the knot to secure.

Using a hot glue gun, dab the glue in the middle of the back of the first flower and place the baker’s twine directly through it.
Weekend DIY: Floral Cake Topper

Apply a second dab of glue over the baker’s twine and place a piece of cardstock circle over it.
Weekend DIY: Floral Cake Topper

Continue to do the same for the remaining flowers.

Once finished, tie the end of the baker’s twine to another straw, and hot glue.

Weekend DIY: Floral Cake Topper

Glue a straight line directly in the middle of back of the flowers, and place the remaining straw across.

Turn over, and hot glue one petal of the two outter flowers to each straw to secure.

Julep Maven May [Modern Beauty] Box

I’ve been a Julep Maven subscriber since November, but May’s Gatsby-inspired box has been my favorite. (The Glycolic Scrub and Rock Star Hand Crème in the Power Couple Box are pretty amaze too!–highly recommended) The themed box was sans polish, but I was more than impressed with all of the (toxic-free, always) beauty items included.
Julep Maven May Modern Beauty Box

I’ve tried other lip scrubs in the past, that usually get messy and have severe clingy properties, but the Sugar Smooch Lip Scrub smells absolutely amazing, and makes my lips so soft and smooth, with easy application. A perfect pre-lipstick ritual.

Julep Maven May Modern Beauty Box

The fun variety of lip hues in the New York Jazz Lipstick Trio came in two sheer shades (a nude and poppy color), as well as a matte red for a bold statement. The fun sized portions are great for a small clutch or pouch.

Julep Maven May Modern Beauty Box

It takes a lot for me to fall in love with a mascara. Lash separation, no clumping, and volume are all on the check list, yet this American Beauty Volumizing Mascara goes the distance with lash growth enhancement ingredients. The easy applicator wand even gets into the hard to reach spots to get even the smallest lashes. I’m sold!

Season Staples from J.Crew

Top | Clutch | Necklace | Hat | Sandals | Belt | Tote | Skirt | Shorts | Popover | Sunnies

J.Crew is the one store where I highly anticipate diving into their style guide each month. The mix of classic essentials and bright punchy hues leaves me with an ongoing mental wish list. The brand portrays classic basics with a trendy infusion (usually through accessories) perfectly, and it fits my style dead on. I mean have you seen that statement necklace? Talk about a gasp-worthy statement piece! They never fail to impress, which these favorite pieces make fab staples to get you through the entire SS seasons.

Too Delicious To Dip Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet potatoes are one of my favorite foods. I eat one almost daily. They’re high in fiber, good for your heart and they’re a top “beauty food” for your hair and skin. Sweet potato fries are a great guilt-free snack, that I also love to add into my salads or quinoa dishes. I like to avoid the additional calories of “dips” (even though organic ketchup tastes amazing!) so I whipped up a recipe that is totally taste bud approved-no dip required!
